Enjoy a quick photo tour through the development of Nuts! Over Art. Below you’ll see the development of the original concepts, several different squirrel versions Michael illustrated, and many of the final project components. The project was a blast and we thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone involved.
Exploring the options.
Nuts! Over Art was the big winner of the group. Next step was figuring out exactly what Nutty The Squirrel needed to look like.
Which Nutty is the one?
With Nutty decided, it was time for everything else to come together. Everything else included a website, billboard, poster, postcard and event merchandise.

Billboards can be beautiful, but shouldn’t they be legible as well? I drove past that billboard couldn’t read any of the info on it.
Not very effective.
I agree that billboards need to be legible. However, that billboard sits about 20′ off the ground and is at a stoplight. When it’s close to street level and at a stoplight you can get away with a little more. Being a billboard for an art event, we wanted to create a sense of interest as well as convey the important information. However, if you refer to the picture you’ll notice that the key information is prominently displayed (Event Name, Event Date, Event Website). Lastly, if it were an interstate billboard where people are flying by we would have definitely taken a different approach.
