How do you bottle awesomesauce? Garbo’s looked to us to package and promote their famous Key West flavor.
Garbo’s Grill has been a Key West institution since 2009. But the time had come to scale their “hidden gem” sauces to tastebuds nationwide. They came to us with a vision, several killer flavors, and an ambition to make the world a more flavorful place.
So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work, freshening up their brand through design, naming, and packaging. We put names to their flavors and designed bottles to visualize just how awesome their sauces are. We created t shirts and other merch to help Garbo’s enthusiasts rep the brand. And last but not least, we designed and built an ecommerce website so that people across the US can buy and experience the Garbo’s taste and style.

We love projects with flavor, and working with the folks at Garbo’s allowed for lots of creative freedom. They gave us the taste profiles and stories behind the ingredients for each sauce, and invited us to explore their exotic origins to find names that captured their essence. From there, we named a suite of 4 hot sauces and glazes, each with its own unique descriptions: from the simple yet effective Habanero Hot Sauce, to the exotic Bangin’ Bulgogi, to just calling The Bomb like it tastes, we had a blast.
Of course, we knew each sauce had to have its own unique art to bring the name to life. In a typical practice for us, we established a visual language to keep a thread of cohesion between each wildly different theme. The art paid homage to places around the world, taking inspiration from vintage travel postcards and fit for a tattoo artist. The art was too cool to stay bottled up, so we also designed a line of merch so people can rep the awesomesauce life. It all came together on a bold ecommerce site to make Garbo’s available anywhere in the US.
